I made this book required reading for my teenage daughter before she was allowed to date. Yes, some of the advice is obvious, but too often we raise our daughters to be "nice" at the expense of just having good sense. The title suggests that this book would contain a lot of man-bashing, but the truth is that Hits attacks some of the exact female behavior that also makes most men crazy. Like--why don't you just say what you want instead of politely waiting for the man to guess what you want and then pouting when he doesn't get it right? This book is full of no-nonsense common sense written in a shoot-from-the-hip style with lots of cartoons and plenty of humor. An entertaining read, but also full of good advice.

I just finished reading this book and it only took me a few days because it is very interesting and informative. I wish that I had this book many years ago. I believe that I would have handled many things differently. it is possible that I would not have wasted 6 1/2 years in a relationship with a guy who never asked me to marry him and was cheating on me while we were dating. Then there was the guy who was living with his girlfriend and son but he told me that the relationship was over but he was living with her and their son only because she and the son did not have any other place to go to at the time. By the time I found out the truth, I was over my head emotionally and could not pull away. This book gives women the methods to use in uncovering the truth when dealing with these kind of guys.

I plan on definitely putting the advice from this book into action when I am start dating again. Unfortunately, I have not had much success with the kind of guys that I usually...

What stood out for me in this book, "Stop Dating Jerks" is, that it was easy to read, and hard to put down. I think the way Dr. Nowinski broke down the sections, articulating the good and bad characteristics of his six categories of men, made it a much different experience of finding a partner. The way this book describes relationships, is not to set a trap, to go out hunting, to feel trapped, but from the persepective of the woman. There are distinctions between what is a characteristic that can be worked around or compromised with, or one to stay clear of! To be able to recognize that women have qualities that are special, and aren't defined by someone else's yardstick. The book is beautiful, read it and delight in it. Don't take it seriously, rather drink it up. It is in prose (it is all transcribed talks), but leaves a distinct aftertaste of fine poetry. Besides, whatever Osho was, he was a genious in his knowledge of human psychology, and a master with words. It shows. $5 say anyone with a little attention will stumble across something eye-opening in this book.

Speaking of who Osho was, it pays to do research (I'm aiming at the editorial reviews here, naturally). He didn't flee the US - he got deported on fabricated INS charges, and there were no orgies at Rajneeshpuram. However, libel sticks. This story (a thoroughly fascinating one - how the Reigan administration got so afraid of a little Indian man that they broke a couple dozen of American laws trying to shut him down and force him out) is still awaiting an unbiased teller.
